Linette Lao is a graphic designer and university lecturer
(she teaches a zine writing class!). Linette is known for
her great, long-running zine, Crimewave. She sent me
two lists, one is hers and one is her daughter
Clementine's; I'm not sure which is which.
1) Nursing

2) Standing in the dog food bowl

3) Dancing on the coffee table

4) Sitting in a cardboard box

5) Fake food (like her mama)
1) Veronica Mars. It is better than Buffy was! Sharp writing abounds. Plus you can watch
America's Next Top Model and pretend it's because you were killing time waiting for Veronica.

2) Miranda July's Me and You and Everyone We Know. Achy and beautiful; quirky in a really
human rather than contrived way- I loved this film so much.

3) Nikki McClure's 2006 Calendar the Next 100 Years. Amazing paper cut-outs, with
revolutionary and inspiring messages for each month. Turning the page every month is a
pleasure. I can't wait for March 2006- Eat more Kale!

4) Sesame Street- an oasis of an hour to enjoy, either watching with Clementine or doing
something I need to get done while she watches it. It's held up for 36 years! There is even an
animated bit about a girl who loves birthdays that mentions her home in Ypsilanti!

5) Arugula. Is there anything better than a nutty, bitter-ish leaf that tastes vaguely like skunk?
I could eat it every day.
